A Quiet Wild: A Seasonal Retreat for Rest, Movement & Renewal
May 15–18, 2026 | Co-Hosted by Seward Yoga
RETREAT OVERVIEW
A Quiet Wild invites you to step away from the rush of everyday life and into a slower rhythm deeply rooted in connection and the natural world. Set on the wild shores of Orca Island Cabins, this coastal retreat co-hosted with Seward Yoga weaves intentional movement, restorative practices, and space for self-paced adventure and connection, nestled within Alaska’s remote fjords. Imagine beginning each day with meditation and the natural sounds of the shoreline, moving through a mindful morning practice, gathering for shared dinners, and closing the day with restorative practice and sound.
This is not about hustle or performance—it’s about spaciousness, choice, and quiet joy. Days begin in noble silence with meditation, then transition into an awakening movement practice. From there, time unfolds organically—inviting self-directed island hikes, sea kayaking or SUP as conditions allow, rest, journaling, or simply being with the landscape. Evenings are devoted to slowing down through restorative yoga and sound baths, supporting integration and deep rest. Mobility, myofascial practices, and bodywork are thoughtfully integrated to support movement, release, and recovery.
If you’re ready to slow your pace, shake off the noise, and let nature set the tone, A Quiet Wild offers a meaningful pause that feels like coming home to yourself.

What are the yurts like?
Our eco-friendly yurt cabins offer you a wonderful way to experience Alaska’s scenic beauty in total comfort. They rely mostly on solar power and each features a private bathroom with a modern compost toilet and a hot shower, a fully-functional kitchen, a queen bed and a full-sized futon complete with thoughtfully chosen linens and pillows, and a propane fireplace to keep your space cozy. Our yurts were designed for privacy and relaxation and provide everything you need for a memorable, stress-free experience. For a complete list of amenities, click here.
How should I pack?
Orca Island Cabins is located in a temperate coastal rain forest. This brings cooler temperatures (May is usually upper 40’s to lower 50’s) and rain most days, though we do see sunshine as well. It is important to be prepared for the weather. In addition to warmer-style yoga clothing that you can move well in, you must also bring high-quality layers, including a warm coat, waterproof outer layers, warm hat and quality waterproof footwear.

What's the best way to get to Seward?
Seward is about 125 miles South of Anchorage, AK. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the Kenai Peninsula, Chugach National Forest, Turnagain Arm, and Kenai Mountains.
- DRIVE THE SEWARD HIGHWAY. This takes about 2.5 hours, and there is public parking in Seward for $10/day. Need a car? Consider this: TURO
- TAKE A BUS. Choose from 2 options:
Park Connection Motorcoach (departs Anchorage at 7am for 9:45am arrival in Seward).
Seward Bus Line (departs Anchorage between 1:30-2:15 for arrival in Seward at 4:45pm and would therefore require a hotel night in Seward prior to the retreat) - TRAVEL BY RAILROAD. The Alaska Railroad Coastal Classic train departs Anchorage at 6:45am, for arrival in Seward at 11am. The Seward Train station is just two blocks from the boat harbor meeting point.
- SCHEDULE A PRIVATE TRANSFER SERVICE. While there are several options, we recommend SewardCityTours (SCT). SCT offers private, affordable transfers for 1-14 people and is operated by the same family that owns Orca Island Cabins.
Are there any age, gender or mobility requirements?
Orca Island Cabins is an adults-only resort. Therefore, we request that all retreat attendees are at least 18 years of age.
The retreat is open to all genders and ability-types.
The layout of the resort does require all participants to be able to safely maneuver a steep ramp, many stairs and narrow walkways.
What will the food be like? Can you accomodate dietary restrictions? Can I bring food?
Food will be hearty, healthy, and sourced locally when possible.
Please be sure to include any dietary restrictions upon sign-up. We can accommodate most dietary restrictions.
You are welcome to bring any additional food and/or alcohol as you wish. Please note that you must bring your own ice for the in-yurt cooler if your food requires (there are no refrigerators at the resort). For more information about food/cooking in the yurts, please click here.
I opted for a double-occupancy yurt but am traveling alone. Who will my roommate be?
Orca Island Cabins will do our best to assign all double-occupancy yurts based on gender, however we cannot guarantee that all double-occupancy yurts will be gender-specific.
Yurts are open floor plan with one queen-sized bed and one full-sized futon. Bathrooms are in-room and offer full privacy.
Where and when do we meet to get to Orca Island? And when will I be back in Seward?
Please meet in the Seward boat harbor at the top of the ramp between The Harbor 360 Hotel and J-Dock Seafood/Fishing Company.
Please arrive by 12:30pm on May 15th. The boat will depart at 1pm for arrival to Orca Island Cabins around 2pm.
At the end of the retreat, the boat will depart Orca Island at 10am for arrival in the Seward boat harbor around 11am.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
Due to our short season and limited retreat availability, we have a strict cancellation policy, no exceptions. For this reason, we recommend purchasing travel insurance. One option is travelinsurance.com.
Cancellations made 60 days or more prior to retreat start date will receive a full refund less $50.00 processing fee per person.
